Spotlight Speaker for the 2nd Annual Trucking Social Media Convention to be held in Kansas City, Missouri October 27th and 28th 2012 is Kylla Leeburg, the grassroots activist who co-founded Chapter 61 Ministries and is also one of the originators of the Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) organization (2007). Kylla also helped to co-found OATH, Oklahomans Against Trafficking Humans.
Ms. Leeburg was named national social media coordinator for the TAT 501(c)3 organization in 2011. Her effective use of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for the organization mission has helped educate the entire trucking community about human trafficking more rapidly than she could have thought possible using traditional networking events alone. Just to name a few who have eagerly joined the fight against human trafficking; Travel plazas, such as our platinum sponsor Pilot Travel Centers, organizations such as OOIDA, and the Minnesota Trucking Association, trucking companies, truck leasing (Lone Mountain Truck Leasing), numerous driver blogs, Dave Nemo on Sirius radio, T/A Petro, Carol’s Travel Time, and the list goes on.
Kylla has attended national trucking shows, including our 1st annual trucking social media event that was held in Tunica, Mississippi where she received an award for her outstanding achievements. This year we are delighted to have her as a guest speaker for our 2nd annual event to educate drivers and industry attendees on how they can recognize the red flags of human trafficking and hear about real trucking heroes who have made the call to the national human trafficking hotline. Kylla will also be explaining her strategies using social media and how she took her organization from zero to international recognition.
February 2012 , TAT was received a Congressional Recognition award by the office of U.S. Rep. Joe Heck, R-NV.
By recruiting the men and women on the frontline of the trucking industry to act as modern day abolitionists, TAT has helped improve the public image of truck drivers and been effective to mobilize broad support using social media.
Human trafficking is modern day slavery, and should not be confused with consensual sex. The TAT organization provides informational materials which help truck drivers and those working in the front lines of the supply chain to recognize the red flags that should be reported to the national hotline. 1-888-373-7888

Kylla is a published author of My Life Crazy, a book about her missionary experiences working with gangs in El Salvador in the mid-1990s and, in 2011, was named district teacher of the year in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she teaches high school US history.
She was our recent guest on Truth About Trucking “LIVE” internet talk radio, which we discussed her experiences surrounding the writing of her book.
